The operators of Everything Retreat, near Mellor, have applied to the borough council to build a building with three treatment rooms, a reception area, shower area and a dedicated Pilates space.
In addition to the new building, the proposal also included the construction of a small outdoor pool and hot tub for guest use.
The planning statement states that since the opening of the existing Wellbeing Building, it has not been practical to use the meeting room as a multi-function space.

The applicant said that he rearranges his room several times a day and has no place to move his furniture, so he has to cover it with sheets and place it outside.
The council’s decision notice said it had determined the size and location of the proposed building was not proportionate to the number of lodges on the site.
“Given the site’s rural location, the construction of the new buildings is likely to increase the number of casual visitors who will be reliant on their own cars,” the statement said.
“Furthermore, it will lead to further increases in built form and urbanization, which will reduce visual amenity.”
The planning statement said: “The proposed development is the erection of a small building to be constructed of high quality traditional materials with natural stone walls and a blue slate roof.”
“The building will be constructed to the same high standard as the existing assisted living facility and will be built adjacent to the existing building, meaning the proposed building will be seen as part of a group of buildings rather than a stand-alone building.”

“The proposed building is relatively small and is the right size to accommodate three treatment rooms, toilets, showers, a reception area and a dedicated Pilates/exercise space.
“Approval of the proposed development will not result in any additional traffic.”
The applicant may appeal the council’s decision within six months if they wish.
