Peanut Butter Wings Recipe
material
- 1 large shallot, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (ideally Frank’s Red Hot)
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1/4 cup coconut milk (canned)
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, sauté the shallots until soft and translucent. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in the hot sauce, dark brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and honey. Cook over low heat for about 3 minutes or until the sugar is dissolved and everything is combined.
- Whisk in the peanut butter and cook until combined, about 5 minutes.
- Whisk in the coconut milk and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the lime juice and black pepper to taste. Set the sauce aside while you prepare the wings.
- Season the wings with salt and pepper and air fry, deep fry, or bake in the oven. You can also use frozen pre-cooked (no sauce) wings or crispy tenders.
- Chicken should be cooked to 165F.
- Once the wings are cooked, dip them in the peanut butter sauce and serve with the accompanying strawberry ranch sauce for dipping. If you like, you can sprinkle chopped roasted peanuts over the sauced wings.
