Peacock will leverage AI technology to deliver “Your Daily Olympic Recap on Peacock,” a first-of-its-kind personalized experience that complements NBCUniversal’s comprehensive coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Collaboration with an Emmy Award-winning Hall of Fame announcer Al Michaels Powered by generative AI and AI-speech technology, “Your Daily Olympic Recap on Peacock” provides fans with a customized playlist featuring highlights from the most relevant events from the previous day. Each compilation will feature clips from NBCU’s Olympics coverage and be narrated by a high-quality AI recreation of Michaels’ voice, which has been trained using past appearances on NBC to match Michaels’ distinctive expertise and enunciation.

“When I heard about it, I was skeptical, but of course I was interested,” says Al Michaels. “Then I saw a demonstration that detailed what they had in mind, and I said, ‘I’m in.'”
Around 7 million personalized variations of “Your Daily Olympic Recap on Peacock” will likely be streamed across the U.S. during the Olympics, all drawn from NBCUniversal’s 5,000 hours of live coverage from Paris, where up to 40 Olympic sports will be taking place simultaneously each day.
Creating “Daily Olympics Recaps on Peacock”
To receive “Daily Olympics Recaps on Peacock”, fans can visit the Olympics hub and Peacock homepage from 27 July and select their three favourite sports and the type of highlights they want to watch, including behind the scenes, top competitions, buzz moments and spotlights on international teams. The first edition on 27 July will feature highlights from the Opening Ceremony, with a personalized version available from 28 July after the first day of events.
The technology extracts hundreds of NBC Sports-produced clips each day and generates a roughly 10-minute playlist that highlights the previous day’s most relevant moments for each user, as well as predictions for what fans can expect from NBC primetime programming. Narrated summaries featuring an AI-based reproduction of Michaels’ voice provide an overview of each selected highlight. Before summaries are made available to users, a team of NBCU editors reviews all content, including audio and clips, for quality assurance and accuracy.
“Peacock Daily Olympics Recaps” will be featured on the Peacock homepage and Olympics Hub and will be available at the individual profile level so up to six users on a single account can receive their own recaps. Most users will also be greeted by their first name for a more personalized experience. Users can opt-in to receive push and in-app notifications reminding them to watch the recap.
