Master’s level certified addiction treatment provider

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department has welcomed new Wellness Coordinator Ashley Harrell, MA., MCAP, to the team.
Harrell is a board-certified clinician with extensive knowledge of mental, emotional and physical health.
She is a Masters-level Certified Addiction Treatment Provider and holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Florida and an MA in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. She is also a PhD candidate at Liberty University specializing in Traumatology.
Harrell will manage the Wellness Promotion Program, which was established to ensure the well-being of police officers through a variety of preventative measures and support services.
“In honor of PTSD Awareness Month, we are strengthening our commitment to the mental health and well-being of our officers and the community,” a Palm Bay Police spokesperson said.
“The demanding nature of police work can take a toll on everyone, including an individual’s family, friends and the communities they serve. Ashley provides essential tools for overall whole-person wellness, helping officers mitigate the effects of chronic stress, handle critical incidents effectively and reduce the incidence and severity of post-traumatic stress disorder.”
She will oversee the Critical Incident Stress Management Team and the Peer Support Team.
