Orlando Health and the City of Orlando Foundation collaborated on the 4Roots research initiative to study the impact of nutrition-based educational interventions, according to a press release.
Their partnership created “Rooted in Health” as part of 4Roots Culinary Health Institute., Improve education and access to healthy foods to promote long-term adherence.
Study participants can purchase food using SNAP dollars and Fresh Access Bucks at 4Roots Mobile Farmers’ Market. 4Roots also offers nutrition and chronic disease classes and cooking demonstrations.
“Rooted in Health” began when 4Roots submitted a grant application to the Orlando Health Community Grants Program. As a result, the healthcare organization saw an opportunity to strengthen this effort by working with its long-time partner, the City of Orlando Foundation. The research was conducted over a two-year period and the total grant amount is $138,923.
