Imagine a day when you don’t have assignments or classes to worry about and can just focus on your mental health. Her One or Two Wellness Days each semester help students prioritize their mental health.

UNC Charlotte has only one designated day throughout the spring semester. refresh your weekend.

College can be stressful for students during the spring semester due to exams, finishing classes with a good final grade, graduation, and finding a job after college. That being said, it would be beneficial to have a few more healthy days, relax and take a break from schoolwork.

Selina Nguyen, a senior at Charlotte University, said, “In your senior year, classes get harder and you have seniority, so we should have more wellness days.” “I know I have weekends, but I also work during those days, so I think having more wellness days during the week would be less stressful,” Nguyen said.

While most students support the idea of having a wellness day, some students argue that it distracts from learning or doesn’t provide enough rest.

Wellness days do the opposite of hindering the learning process. It actually improves our learning ability. A study conducted by the American Psychological Association claims that stress plays a role. cognitive skills and memory, which is important for learning.

“After a healthy day, I feel refreshed. I feel like I’ve restarted myself. When I’m busy, I often neglect self-care or eat less. ” said Nguyen. “A wellness day is a day where you relax your mind, clear your thoughts, and restart for the next day by eating for yourself and doing a thorough skin care routine. .”

Others believe that missing academic opportunities could have a negative impact on students who already face mental health issues. but, academic burnout syndrome Stress can contribute to poor health and increased mental health problems. Wellness Day gives students the opportunity and time to care for each other by checking in on loved ones and making plans with friends.

Wellness looks different for everyone. If you are already struggling with your mental health, a wellness day may not be as effective as it should be. If a student believes that a wellness day is not beneficial to their health or well-being, the university also has a variety of resources available to students.

Plus, even if students don’t have anything planned for the day, there’s always something to do on campus thanks to the variety of activities hosted by departments such as the Wellness and Promotion Center. Participating in these events allows you to connect with other students and other students and foster a sense of community.

Taking care of your mental health is very important because it affects our behavior, emotions, and thoughts. College students tend to forget to take care of their mental health on a daily basis due to their busy work schedules, so it’s important to set aside an extra day for self-care.

Universities need to thoroughly consider their mental health day schedules. It is important to consistently take time to focus on relaxation and mental health. Therefore, it is important that universities continue to offer Health Days where students can take time off from school.
