A new three-storey oceanfront spa has opened at the One&Only Kea Island Resort and Private Homes in Greece.
The spa menu has partnered with Subtle Energy to offer treatments inspired by Greek mythology, traditional Ayurvedic remedies and local botanicals.
Facilities include a Watsu therapy pool, cold plunge pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and indoor and outdoor pools.
The opening marks One&Only’s second venture in Greece and marks the brand’s U.S. debut following a planned opening in Montana later this year.
One&Only Resorts has introduced a new three-story spa on the picturesque Greek island of Kea within its recently opened oceanfront property, One&Only Kea Island Resort & Private Homes.
The 63-villa resort, set on a dramatic cliffside, will be One&Only’s second resort in Greece, following One&Only Esthesis in Athens, which is set to open in 2023 and will feature Greece’s first Guerlain spa.
In partnership with luxury Ayurvedic aromatherapy brand Subtle Energies, the One&Only Kéa Island Spa is inspired by the ancient Greek concept of Sophrosyne, which emphasises harmony between the mind and body.
One&Only’s vision was to create a wellness space that harnesses the elemental energies of care and offers customized treatments incorporating Greek mythology, traditional Ayurvedic healing techniques and local botanicals.
To celebrate the spa’s opening, Subtle Energies has curated four exclusive treatments that combine influences from the Greek islands with ancient Ayurvedic principles.
Spa facilities include a Watsu therapy pool, cold plunge pool, steam rooms, saunas, Jacuzzis, indoor and outdoor pools with unobstructed ocean views, a Bastien Gonzalez pedicure and manicure studio and a One&Only hair salon.
Additionally, the resort also features indoor and outdoor fitness centers, a dedicated teens area, bicycles, padel courts and tennis courts.
“Each One&Only resort is unique, capitalizing on its extraordinary locations and respecting the natural landscape and local community,” said Philip Zuber, CEO of One&Only parent company Kerzner International.
“We are delighted to unveil our second haven in Greece, offering a truly unparalleled journey around Greece from a One&Only perspective across two distinct properties.
“With a population of just 2,300 people, the island holds a very special place in the hearts of its inhabitants, and it has been a privilege for us to partner with the community to faithfully reflect and preserve Kea’s unique spirit. This secluded destination reveals a different side to the Cyclades and promises a tranquil stay that will leave guests feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.”
Other facilities at One&Only Kea Island include a KidsOnly Club and six restaurants and bars.
The resort also organizes cultural tours on land and sea to immerse guests in Kea’s culture and history, including shipwreck dives, sailing trips to hidden beaches and archaeological tours to excavation sites.
Design details
Designed by architect John Hee, the resort’s design pays homage to Kea’s architectural traditions and features hand-cut local stone, Greek marble, soaring atriums, whitewashed walls, pergolas and rounded arches.
The main arrival building and villas are said to exude a village-like atmosphere whilst maintaining a sense of space and privacy.
