If you’ve found yourself at the intersection of St. Peter’s and Newtown over the past few weeks, you may have noticed something shiny on the ground floor of 672 King Street. And now, news has been announced that One He Playground He New Town will open the doors to his new Reformer His Pilates studio, complete with over 8,000 handcrafted mirrors.
For the uninitiated, One Playground is a Sydney-based wellness brand that operates stunningly beautiful and incredibly affordable gyms across the city. The brand made the switch from “Fitness Playground” to One Playground in March 2023. This is due to our co-founder Justin Ashley (who happens to be one of our members). People shaping the future of 2024) describes it as a reflection of their mission to “deliver all health, fitness, and wellness under one roof.”
The launch of One Playground’s third Reformer studio is an extension of that mission. Ashley explained that the Reformer classes, which are run at the Marrickville and Surry Hills studios, are the most popular classes in the (particularly extensive) class schedule.

“Ever since we moved into this space nine years ago, we had hoped that the landlord would give us a key to the first floor. We knew it would be the perfect space for a renovation studio. We’ve been operating as a frame shop for 2019, and every few months we’ll knock on the door and say, “Are you ready to move in?” Ashley explains.
“Eventually he came to me and said, ‘It’s time for you to take over downstairs,’ so we got to work right away.
The glass-walled, cave-like space is so luxurious that it’s hard to believe it’s a fitness studio. The 20-foot-high ceiling is lined with mirrors, the walls are flanked by shimmering curtains, and there’s color-changing lighting and state-of-the-art speakers. , 20 reformer beds come with weights, straps, and other fitness accessories to give you the perfect full-body workout.
