The National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), Pune recently celebrated its 6th Naturopathy Day with a bang, reinforcing its commitment towards holistic health and natural healing techniques. The event, held on 18th November 2023, brought together experts, practitioners and enthusiasts committed to advancing the field of naturopathy.
Highlights of Naturopathy Day:
The welcome address by Dr. Yuvaraj Paul set the tone for the event as he thanked the guests and participants. Prof. K. Sathya Lakshmi, Director, NIN, delivered the Chairman’s address and highlighted the important role that naturopathy plays in today’s world with its holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
Key themes and insights:
Dr Lakshmi emphasised the importance of this year’s theme which focuses on preventive medicine, holistic approach, empowerment, self-care, natural and non-invasive therapies and environmental sustainability.Eminent personalities in the field of naturopathy such as Dr SN Pandey, Dr Shankaran Manipuzha, Dr RM Nair and Dr Y. Rudrappa were felicitated for their outstanding contributions.
Tributes to Dr. Dinshah Mehta:
Bahram Shah Mardan shared his insights about Dr. Dinshah Mehta and his immense contribution to naturopathic medicine. As the personal physician to Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Mehta played a pivotal role in establishing naturopathic medicine in India through his spiritual motivation.
Promotes overall health:
Anand Kelkar spoke about achieving overall health through exercise and treating exercise as a form of nutrition. The institute organized free consultations, naturopathic treatments and distributed literature emphasizing the importance of preventive care.
Cultural Programme and Awards:
A cultural programme by TATC students and interns enlivened the event, followed by the certificate presentation ceremony for the students of the Foundation Course of “Yoga Science for Wellness”.
