CHICAGO — The NIH is rethinking how it conducts nutrition research. Andrew A. Bremer, MD, PhD, MAS, The Director of the NIH Office of Nutrition Research told Nutrition magazine:
“We’re at a critical point in history. We’re all in the middle of a nutrition-related health crisis,” Bremmer told Healio in a video interview. “Poor nutrition and poor diets affect national security. They affect public health. They affect the economy. They affect every aspect of daily life.”
In the video, Bremer summarizes his remarks from the opening session and talks about the work his office is doing to help achieve “equitable, workable, culturally appropriate, contextually relevant, resilient and sustainable solutions to the problems facing our nation.”
“I’m more excited than ever that the investigators here at this conference will be able to do just that,” Bremmer said.
