Dzogchen Beara’s new temple, located at the tip of the Beara Peninsula, will open to the public for the first time on 17 July.
Centre director Malcolm McClancy suggested that the new events programme would be a great way for people to visit and experience the beautiful new cliff-top Buddhist centre.
“Whether you’re new to meditation and Buddhism or a seasoned meditation practitioner, there is something for everyone,” the centre director said, confirming that he would be hosting free visits to the temple every day from 1.45pm.
The construction of the copper-roofed temple has been a labour of love over the past eight years.
Built in the style of a traditional Tibetan monastery, it includes innovative features such as floor-to-ceiling windows that make the most of the expansive ocean views.
The Temple will be a place of study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism, but will also invite teachers of other wisdom traditions and wholeheartedly welcome all through its program of public retreats and seminars.
The temple’s new programming will include a number of free events, including 45-minute guided meditations at 9:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. each day.
Other events have a small participation fee, for example the half-day mini-retreat every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10.30am to 2pm costs 40 euros including lunch.
“Move to Meditate” classes incorporating Kumnye Tibetan Yoga are also available for a small fee from 10.30am to 12pm, and there are free sermons every Tuesday from 7pm to 8.30pm.
“July 17th is a very important date for us,” Malcolm said. “It’s such an exciting time and our new program is a way to open our doors to everyone.”
An official opening event will be held at a later date.
