A self-referral system has been launched to support people with financial concerns.
The ‘Money Worries’ program by Lanarkshire Mind Matters comes as April has been dubbed ‘terrible April’ due to growing economic concerns.
This module covers topics such as understanding the connection between money issues and mental health, developing new coping mechanisms, confronting financial fears, and learning budgeting techniques.
Lanarkshire Mind Matters is a website run by NHS Lanarkshire Psychological Services, which aims to improve psychological health in Lanarkshire.

“The Money Worries program, which can be accessed through the Lanarkshire Mind Matters website, offers digital therapy courses to help break the cycle of money-related stress and mental health issues.
“To be clear, we are not saying that money issues are all in our heads. That is not the case. Things are very difficult right now.
“But every little thing helps. People who self-refer to this program can gain insight into the relationship between financial hardship and mental health issues, while also managing their concerns more effectively.” You can learn practical strategies for doing so.
“Through evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), this course will help participants develop critical skills to navigate difficult financial times with confidence.”
Participants can also access resources such as personal stories, quizzes, mindfulness exercises, and journal activities to enhance their learning experience.
The flexibility this program provides allows individuals to access support at their convenience from their smartphone, computer, or tablet.
