The accused man is Dr. Jen Quan (57). He is the owner and director of Prosperity Health Center located at 952 Rt. 34 in Matawan. He also lives in Matawan.
Quan says on his clinic’s website that he is a certified chiropractor and acupuncturist.
One of his female patients said that when she saw him for acupuncture treatment on January 24, he sexually assaulted her in various ways.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago released an affidavit to Patch. Here are the new details (WARNING: The following contains graphic sexual content that some readers may find disturbing or disturbing.):
The woman said she had an appointment with Quan on Wednesday, January 24 at 5:30 p.m. She was there for her acupuncture treatment, and she said she had had acupuncture treatment with Dr. Quan before.
She said the man asked her to remove all her clothes and gave her a gown. She said she felt this was unusual because she had never been asked to completely undress in her previous sessions. He instructed the victim to lie face down on the treatment table.
She said he performed her first acupuncture treatment, which involved inserting needles into the soles of her feet.
The woman then advised Quang that he was trying to gain access to her perineum, but before the victim could react, he inserted an ungloved finger into her anus and moved it for several seconds. Stated.
“The victim advised that he was afraid to move because there was a needle in his leg,” the affidavit states.
Quan then removed the needle and instructed the victim to lie on his back. He stuck her needle in her leg again, this time in the front of her leg, and asked her if she had a discharge.
“The victim responded, “No,” but the defendant then told him that he would perform an examination, and even though the victim denied leaving the hospital and did not consent, the defendant spread the victim’s labia with his hands. I visually inspected her vagina.”
The woman contacted Matawan police the next day, Jan. 25, to report an alleged sexual assault.
Quan was arrested without incident on February 1 by Matawan police and members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. He was charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
No one answered the phone at Quang’s Thrive Health Clinic on Monday.
