Pune (Maharashtra) [India]December 3 (ANI): The AYUSH Ministry on Thursday announced that the new campus of the National Naturopathy Institute (NIN), Pune, will be named ‘Nisarg Gram’.
The decision was taken to evoke memories of Mahatma Gandhi’s famous naturopathic campaign, carried out in 1946 at the ‘Nisarg Upcha’ ashram in Urli Kanchan village near Pune.
According to an official statement, the new facility, located 15 km away from NIN’s current facility at Bapu Bhavan, will be future-proof with many novelties and innovations built into the project itself and the curriculum of the naturopathic courses.
NIN, Pune is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of AYUSH and has a unique Gandhian heritage, having evolved from a naturopathic institute of which Mahatma Gandhi was one of the founders.
To begin with, the curriculum of the new institute will be prepared in light of the National Education Policy, 2020. The curriculum will be streamlined to bring a qualitative and educational understanding of Naturopathy and allied fields at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Additionally, Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Naturopathy and allied fields will be the focus programmes of Nisarg Gram. The proposed PhD program in Naturopathy at Nisarg Gram will be the first of its kind and will further strengthen the education of Naturopathy and Yoga in the country.
The university will lay emphasis on the symbiotic relationship between research and education and the need to foster this relationship in naturopathic medicine, the release added. (ANI)
