A 36-year-old woman who was missing in Goa, the daughter of a Nepali mayor, has been found, her father announced in a Facebook update on Wednesday morning. He added that she is currently in a weakened state and thanked those involved in the search efforts for her.
Gopal Hamal, mayor of Nepal’s Dhangadi sub-metropolis, said his eldest daughter Aarti, a follower of Osho meditation, has been staying in Goa for the past few months.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all those who assisted in the search efforts and to our kind Nepali brothers and sisters living in Goa,” he said in a Facebook message.
He said on Tuesday that his youngest daughter and her husband were flying to Goa to search for Aarti.
“My eldest daughter Aarti, my younger daughter Arzoo, and my son-in-law let everyone know they are together,” he wrote.
Hamal posted an update on Facebook on Tuesday, asking for information about her missing daughter.
She was last seen near Ashvem Bridge in North Goa on Monday night around 9:30 pm. Her sister Arzu Hamal said on social media that she was last seen on a bridge near Siolim, according to some callers. She also said that a first information report (FIR) has been filed by Goa police in connection with the incident. She said she received over 500 calls after she left for Lucknow. She was scheduled to take an early morning flight from Hyderabad to Goa.
“Some of them believe she was found unconscious and taken from there by ambulance to the hospital, while others say she was taken to the police station.” wrote on Facebook.
