Mysore: Swasthavrita School of Postgraduate Studies, JSS Ayurvedic Medical College In collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi and SKRSPM Sri Veda Vyasa Yoga Pratishtana, Mysore, a day-long National Seminar on Yoga and Ayurveda was recently organised on the eve of International Day of Yoga at the University campus in Mysore.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Kashinath Samagundi, Director, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, New Delhi, who explained about the Yoga Certification Board and its aims and objectives.
The first scientific session was delivered by Dr. Arpan A. Bhatt, Chairman, Assessment Committee, Yoga Certification Board, New Delhi on the theme, “Blueprint of Yoga: Planning the Swasthavritta Journey”.
The second session was by Dr Ulka Nathu Gaddam, an embryologist and yoga expert from Mumbai University, and was on the topic, “Ancient Wisdom, Modern Applications: Yoga and Garbha Samskara.”
The third scientific session was conducted by Dr. K. Raghavendra Pai, Executive Director, Sri Veda Vyasa Yoga Pratishtana, Mysore, on the theme, “Impact of Yoga on Students’ Concentration and Academic Performance.”
The department conducted an Ayurveda and Yoga recitation competition for second year students of BAMS. The winners were awarded certificates and prizes. Dr. Sarbeswarkar, Principal, JSS AMC, acted as emcee. More than 150 delegates participated in the programme.
