Pune-based National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, is celebrating this year’s International Yoga Day (June 21) at Nisarg Gram, a new 25-acre campus in Yewalewadi. celebrate.
NIN was established in 1945 as the All India Natural Healing Foundation under the leadership of Gandhi and has a distinct Gandhian tradition. The new campus, located at a distance of 15 km from his NIN’s current premises at Bapu Bhawan, is expected to be officially opened in September this year. “A naturopathic college will be set up on the campus. This is the first of its kind in Maharashtra and permission from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences is awaited to start PG courses,” said Dr. Satya Lakshmi, Director, NIN. states.
NIN’s new campus will be called ‘Nisag Gram’ after Mahatma Gandhi’s naturopathy campaign held in 1946 at the ‘Nisag Upcha’ ashram in Ulli Kanchan village near Pune. It will house a 250-bed hospital with a maternity ward and OT facilities. There will also be a large yoga hall with a Gandhi memorial. Apart from the staff quarters, herb garden, open-air amphitheater and boys and girls dormitories, an eco-friendly building project will also be run on solar power.
“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we were unable to relocate to a new location. However, plans are underway to officially take office in September this year,” the chief said. Bachelor’s and master’s programs in naturopathy and related fields form the core program at Nisarg Gram. We also have a wide range of general elective subjects, skill improvement subjects, and ability improvement subjects.

This year, with the theme of Yoga for ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2023 aims to connect with the larger global community. International Yoga Day 2023 will also focus on bringing yoga to every village of India.
