If there’s one thing I want in life, it’s to inherit the genes of my grandmother, who is almost 90 years old. My grandmother might live 20 years younger.
It’s hard to believe that Trish Parr was born in 1934, not only because she doesn’t have any wrinkles, but because she loves Game of Thrones and always looks trendy in the latest M&S jeans.
When I asked Nana what her secret to youthful skin was, she said she’d only ever used one face cream, Avon’s £3.75 moisturizer, which she started applying every day in 1965.
She added that she also drinks sherry every night, telling Fabulous that “may have something to do with that.”
She loves wine and coffee and doesn’t have a special diet. She enjoys ham sandwiches for lunch and chicken cooked in the air fryer for dinner.
Originally from Nottingham, Trish loves to stay active and can often be seen trimming hedges and planting flowers in her backyard.
“I do all the gardening and cleaning myself,” she said.
“I don’t have anyone to help me with anything except my daughter who helps me with digital stuff.”
She added: “I always went to aerobics and exercise classes when I was younger, so that probably helped.”
The 89-year-old, who will turn 90 in October, also tries to walk as much as possible, taking a daily walk to her local newsagents to buy her favorite newspaper.
To keep her brain active, she tries crosswords every day and also plays Four Pics One Word on her iPad.
Every morning, Trish walks to a local cafe in the village where she lives to meet a group of friends.
She said laughing with “the ladies” helps her stay young.
The mother of two also attributes her youthful attitude towards life to her favorite TV shows.
Some of her favorites include Gilmore Girls, Outlander, and Game of Thrones.
“They definitely keep me young,” she said.
