A skincare fan has shared the anti-ageing secret she inherited from her mother.

She explained that her mother believed in repurposing food leftovers into anti-aging lotions.

Reddit user Puppiesnprada shared this beauty tip in a post.

She explained that her mother turned to the natural world to meet her skin’s needs instead of traditional store-bought products.

“My mother always rubbed citrus peels on her skin, and I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager,” she said.

As she grew older, she understood why her mother adopted the practice.

“I discovered it was an old-fashioned way of taking vitamin C topically,” she says.

“Apparently, this has been an East Asian beauty practice for centuries.”

Others who knew how to do it provided more details about it.

One commenter explained that the trick is to place the outside of an orange peel directly on your skin.

“Before rubbing, roll it into a cylindrical shape to release the oils,” they said.

Shoppers have been rushing to snap up a £1.50 Primark product this summer that promises to prevent ageing skin and give you flawless make-up.

Some shared tips and tricks they learned from their mothers or grandmothers.

One beauty fan highlighted the importance of using facial skin care products in a downward motion.

“Don’t forget to moisturize your neck too!” they said.

One Reddit user explained that they were unaware of this advice and were trying to undo a mistake.

“I realized that when I turned 35 and I’ve been trying to deal with it ever since,” she said.

Should I apply Vitamin C to my skin?

Topical Vitamin C has a variety of benefits for the skin, including moisturizing, reducing redness, and reducing pigmentation.

According to Healthline, it also helps boost collagen production and reduce sun damage.

Studies show it is safe for most skin types, but concentrations above 20% can cause irritation.

Experts recommend doing a patch test on a small area of skin and waiting 24 hours to check for any side effects before applying it to your face.

Discontinue use of topical vitamin C if you experience symptoms such as a rash, redness, or hives.

One woman shared the wisdom that her female role models owed her.

“Don’t leave the house without a pair of earrings and a bit of lipstick,” she said.

“Don’t forget to get pedicures on your toes and never go out in public with chipped nail polish,” she added.

“A hard life makes you old! Don’t let men (and people in general) stress out!”

Many were forced to agree with her main point.

“Pure wisdom, especially that last line,” one commenter said.
