New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurved Limited, verbally tendered an “unconditional and unconditional apology” in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
“Jo bhi humse bhul hui, uske liye we accept your unconditional or unconditional apology kijye (we offer you our unconditional and unconditional apology for any wrong we have done),” Baba Ramdev said. It was submitted in a court headed by Justice Hima Kohli.
“Are you saying that other forms of medicine are “substandard” and should be “thrown away”? Why do you say that? ” asked the court, which also included Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah.
In response, Baba Ramdev said Patanjali was working to make Ayurveda an evidence-based medical system and that he was not criticizing anyone.
The Supreme Court interjected: agar apne (research) kiya hai, toh interdisciplinary committee hai, jo union government ne banai hai, usme aap proof karage… aapke waqil ne statement diya ki apne ayurveda ko badhane ke liye, dusri medicine or unke treatment ko ‘shoot down’ Nahi karenge. Baba Ramdev said with folded hands that he should not have made such public statements and that he would be more careful from now on. “Aesa humse utsa me ho gaya, aage se hum nahi karenge (We did this excitedly, we won’t do it again),” he added.
In a similar vein, Acharya Balkrishna also said: Aage se bahut diyan rakenge. “We galti par hum ksham prarthana karte hein (This mistake happened unknowingly. We will be more careful in the future. We apologize for the mistake).”
The Supreme Court also questioned Mr. Ramdev and Mr. Balkrishna over the continued publication of misleading advertisements and holding a press conference soon after Mr. Patanjali’s lawyers presented the promise in November last year.
Ayurvedic companies had earlier told the Supreme Court that they never make any claims of medicinal value for their products or advertise or promote their brands in violation of the law, and that they do not support any medical system in any way. He was adamant that he would not release that statement to the media. .
Baba Ramdev said he had no intention of violating the undertaking given to the Supreme Court. “Kisi bhi prakar se manniya nyayalya ka anadar karna hamari mansa na thi, na hein or na kabhi ho sakti hai (It was never our intention, nor will it be, to disrespect the court in any way. “I don’t get it,” he said.
After interacting with the two, the Supreme Court said it would consider the unconditional apologies offered by the accused candidates, making it clear that it does not condone the actions of Ramdev and Balkrishna.
Senior advocate Mukul Rotagi, who appeared on behalf of the accused candidates, said Patanjali would take voluntary steps to show its sincerity and asked for the matter to be listed in a week’s time. .
Mr. Ramdev and Mr. Balkrishna are expected to appear in person on the next listing date.
