A classic dish that I have never encountered before.
There’s nothing more fun than listening to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, or Tony Bennett while cooking. Jazzy music is the perfect backdrop as you cook your favorite comforting dishes in a big pot. And don’t lie, these are also great songs to dance around the kitchen with.
While no one can replace classical music, it would be remiss of us not to mention Michael Bublé, a legend honored to grace our dinner jazz playlists. Sure, the Grammy-winning singer has a swingy rendition of our favorite Christmas songs on repeat throughout the holiday season, but “Feeling Good” stands up to the best of the best.
But have you ever wondered what those stars cook in their spare time while listening to your favorite artists in the kitchen? We sure do. That’s why I bookmarked the recipes for Johnny Cash’s chili, Dolly Parton’s casserole, and Liza’s Minnelli’s potato appetizers so they can be easily found later.
Michael Buble’s Favorite Comfort Meals
So while we’re busy singing along to “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” and “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas,” here’s what this Canadian singer has in store for himself Is not it? It turns out the crooner’s favorite comfort food comes from his Nonna’s cookbook.
Bublé says her grandmother’s recipe for red meat risotto is one of her favorites. This one-pot, six-ingredient recipe (minus pantry staples like butter and water) makes for an easy, mouth-watering dinner you’ll want to enjoy in any season.
“My Nonna’s Famous Risotto is one of my favorite dishes. I was so lucky to have such a beautiful and close relationship with my grandparents that I wanted to honor them through food and whisky. It means a lot to me and helps keep their spirits alive. It brings back memories of the happiest times we spent together,” Bublé said in an exclusive statement.
While we’re all for the combination of this meal with crunchy bread and probably a fun fire-and-buble soundtrack, the singer opts for a whiskey cocktail (just as Sinatra himself would). Of course, Bublé pairs the red meat risotto with her Honey Whiskey Her Sour, made with her in-house Fraser & Tompon Her Whiskey.
Whiskey or not, recipes are a must-make. Recipe shared exclusively with Allrecipes.
Michael Bublé’s Nonna’s Red Meat Risotto
Butter (for laying on the frying pan)
2 large white onions (chopped)
2 cups steak (chopped finely – round steaks are best)
2-3 beef bouillon cubes
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
Arborio rice 750 grams
A glass of water (this is a kind of measuring game)
Parmesan cheese (optional)
direction:
-
Add the onions to the pan with the butter (or oil). Cook until translucent.
-
Add the steak meat and stir-fry all over. The journey takes approximately 10 minutes.
-
Add 2-3 beef bouillon cubes (depending on your preference). It depends on the size of the batch you are making. You may need more or less. When you cook rice, you add a lot of water, so you may need to add more bouillon when you cook the rice.
-
Add crushed tomatoes and rice. Add 1 cup of boiling water to the rice and sauce and stir over medium-low heat. Once the water evaporates, add another cup. Continue this until the rice is cooked. It will take about 15 to 20 minutes. If you don’t keep stirring, it will burn.
-
Once baked, add Parmesan cheese and it’s done!
