JetSet Pilates, a national brand founded in Miami in 2010, plans to open two new locations in Tampa: one at 1413 S. Howard Ave. in the SoHo district and another in the AER apartment building at 300 W. Tyler St. downtown.
Franchisees Lauren and Patrick Christopher plan to open a total of eight stores in the Tampa Bay area, according to a statement.
Pilates was created in the early 20th century to help dancers recover. It’s growing in popularity today because it helps participants of all ages and body types increase flexibility and build muscle tone. The Pilates and yoga industry is projected to reach a value of $14.7 billion by the end of 2024, according to industry research firm IBIS World.
“I chose to get into the fitness industry because it offers the opportunity for everyone to improve both physically and mentally. I’ve been doing Pilates for many years and love the low-impact, highly effective workout, but I felt like something was missing until I found Jet Set,” Tampa franchise owner Lauren Christopher said in a statement. “Everything about it is very upscale and luxurious, from the lighting and music to the intensity.”
JetSet offers drop-ins, class packs and membership options, including an unlimited membership for $279 per month. Introductory classes for potential new clients are available starting at $19 per class. Each studio will be equipped with 16 custom Advanced Reformer machines.
