YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Meridian Healthcare chiropractic doctors Michael J. Cafaro and Jeremy Dotson recently became licensed acupuncturists, allowing the Meridian facility to offer this traditional Chinese medicine in addition to chiropractic services.
“Having both Dr. Cafaro and Dr. Dotson become licensed acupuncturists allows us to provide an even higher quality of service to our patients. People come to us looking to improve their overall health, and our broad range of services allows us to support them and provide them with the care they need,” said Larry Molitano, president and CEO of Meridian Healthcare.
Acupuncture involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to relieve pain, tension, and balance the flow of energy, or chi, throughout the body.
With the introduction of these services, patients suffering from pain and other illnesses, as well as those participating in Meridian’s addiction and recovery programs, will have access to complementary and comprehensive treatment options to alleviate their symptoms.
Cafaro and Dotson took a team approach to their research.
“Joining forces through the curriculum allowed us to train at the same time,” Cafaro says. “Becoming licensed acupuncturists allowed Dr. Dotson and I to increase the amount of services we offer to help our patients.”
Dotson echoed Cafaro’s sentiments.
“This will allow us to serve not only our current patients, but also the general public who are looking for alternative ways to manage their pain and suffering,” Dotson says.
Cafaro has been a chiropractic physician for 19 years and Dotson for seven years. He will also be joined at Meridian by Dr. Christopher Clouty, who has more than 15 years of experience in chiropractic care and more than seven years in acupuncture.
