SOUTH BEND, Ind. — May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the South Bend Empowerment Zone will be hosting its first annual Westside Empowerment Zone on Saturday, May 11th from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Washington High School. It was announced that a refresh event would be held.
“Westside Refresh is a Mental Health Awareness Month event that de-stigmatizes conversations about mental health and provides families with tools for personal wellness,” said SBEZ Chief of Staff Julia Tao. “This free event is open to the entire Westside community as well as anyone from across the city who wishes to participate.
Events include:
- The wellness-themed amusement park will feature vendor giveaways, face painting, bounce houses, and more.
- Wellness Workshop (adult and student options available) 12:45pm to 1:45pm
- Local food trucks: Frankie’s Tacos, Piño’s Kitchen, Angles on Wheels.
Organizers said the event was made possible with support from presenter Beacon and community partners Ivy Tech, Anthem, Bowen Center, South Bend Education Foundation, Girl Coalition of Indiana, MDWise, Oaklawn, CareSource and NDFCU. .
Washington High School is located at 4747 W Washington Street in South Bend.
