Matthew 6:5-8
Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say, “Here I am.” – Isaiah 58:9 (CEB)
I was trying to process a document for the senior center where I volunteer, and the sender required an electronic signature. On a good day, I’m adept at using email, but I quickly concluded that an electronic signature just wasn’t possible.
I’ve experienced similar frustrations with computer passwords, weak cell phone signals, dropped calls, car clocks that won’t reset, and smart TVs that are clearly smarter than I am.
What a blessing it is that the Lord provides stress-free two-way communication 24/7. The lines are always open, no passwords required, and a quick whispered prayer on a busy day never generates an error message.
Although I understand the value and efficiency of modern technology, I am much more comfortable with low-tech gadgets. I also prefer simple practices such as prayer, meditation, and communing with nature. Modern technology can sometimes tire me out, but walking along a forest trail and talking with the Holy One always refreshes me and renews my commitment to follow Christ by loving others.
Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving me endless access to your peace and mercy, even in this busy and sometimes confusing world. Amen.
Thought for the day: I can call out to God at any time of the day.
