A luxurious New Forest Spa has become one of the first in the country to offer unique Ayurvedic treatments said to restore balance to the mind, body and spirit.
The Herb House at Limewood Hotel recently hosted Ayurvedic therapist and Reiki practitioner Sheena Chandran, who will share the principles of Ayurveda that she learned in India.
Sheena obtained her Ayurvedic Nursing and Panchakarma certification from the renowned Amala Ayurvedic Hospital and Research Centre in Kerala and subsequently practiced at Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Passionate about personal care, she learned Reiki techniques to complement her Ayurvedic skills. Sheena strongly feels that when Ayurvedic and Reiki practices work in tandem, “the path to a balanced state of mind and body becomes more achievable.”
From abhyanga treatments, in which warm oil is poured all over the body followed by long strokes along the energy map, to lumbosacral therapy, in which a mixture of herb paste dough and warm oil is massaged into the lower back, Herb House’s new Ayurvedic treatments are designed to address issues of mind and body, particularly stress and lack of sleep.
Sheena’s Indian head massages help improve sleep and circulation, while Reiki reduces stress and anxiety by “opening and balancing the chakras.” Sheena can also customize Ayurvedic treatments for each guest.

The principles of Ayurveda originated in India, where the goal is to help you stay healthy and happy by “restoring balance through practical practices,” often through small but effective lifestyle adjustments.
Tammy Kenyon, Director of Herb House, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Sheena to Herb House and have her incorporate the powerful properties of Ayurveda into our spa’s treatment menu.”
“Sheena brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team and will be joining us to further enhance our holistic treatments, which incorporate a number of wellness techniques originating from India. Our forest location is the perfect location for this exciting new service, which aims to restore balance to the mind, body and spirit.”
