Paying homage to Mata Sidhrakshmi Asthapan at Halbar, Lok Bhavan, Anantnag
The sharp decline in pilgrims at Amarnath reflects improved facilities.
Anantnag, July 18: Displaying deep religious faith and cultural pride, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined devotees in the Mahayagya organised by Telathraj Sidhulakshmi Peace Trust at Lok Bhawan, Ashad Shukla Paksha Dwadashi and prayed for happiness, peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amidst the prayers and rituals, LG Sinha expressed the Jammu and Kashmir government’s unwavering commitment to preserve and enhance the ancient holy sites of the region. He urged the people of the region to cooperate with the administration in safeguarding these sacred sites and ensuring their heritage for future generations.
He highlighted the historical importance of Lok Bhavan Yatra, the holy spring and Mata Sidulakshmi temple and pointed out that the tradition of hosting yagyas existed in Kashmir Valley since Vedic times.
He pointed out the ancient glories of Lok Bhavan Yatra, holy springs and Mata Siddhalakshmi temple. “Looking back at history, it is true that the tradition of performing yagyas existed in Kashmir valley since Vedic times,” he said.
“I believe that in these spiritual places, after so many ages, the same ancient wellsprings of spirituality and values have begun to flow again and with God’s blessings, these centres of faith are being revived,” LG said.
The Lt Governor also noted the administration’s efforts to improve facilities for pilgrims at the holy site and said the number of devotees at the Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela has increased significantly compared to last year. He also noted that the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage, which has seen around 350,000 pilgrims in the last 18-19 days, is progressing smoothly.
In his address, Minister Sinha expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the preservation of these sacred sites and reiterated his government’s commitment to reviving their cultural value. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to revive the sacred site of Shardapeth and ensure its safety for future generations.
LG Sinha was accompanied by DIG South Kashmir Javed Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Fakhruddin Hamid, SSP Anantnag, members of Terat Raji Sidulakshmi Peace Trust and a large number of devotees.
