Kristen Wiig made a spectacular return to “Saturday Night Live” this week, reviving her iconic “Aunt Linda” character and possibly creating a whole new fan favorite.
In a horror trailer reminiscent of the A24 movie, Chloe Fineman and Molly Carney work up the courage to take their first Pilates class. They enter a creepy dark purple room, where Wiig, who plays a cult-leader Pilates instructor with a penchant for bizarre nicknames, puts them through the scariest workout of his life.
Pilates is an excellent form of exercise that is proven to improve flexibility, core strength, and posture. But most Pilates studios have a certain…atmosphere. In short, it is intense. If you’ve ever attended a class, you can probably say you’ve had a whole new relationship with discomfort.
And this sketch and Wiig’s performance, from the intimidating Reformer machine that “looks like it’s designed for torture…but can also somehow have sex,” to the mind-boggling instructions during class. , completely nailed everything about the typical Pilates experience (a “take”): wrap the ankle straps around your waist and wrap the knee straps around your head! ”) Forgetting special sticky socks will have unbearable consequences. May God help you.
In fact, it’s even been endorsed by Pilates enthusiasts.
“As someone who has been doing Pilates for over 5 years this is 100% accurate lol,” one YouTube viewer wrote.
Another added: “I’ve taken a Pilates class and this made me laugh out loud because it’s so true!”
A staff member at a Pilates studio also said, “I work at the front desk of a Pilates studio and this is completely accurate. It made me laugh so hard!”
