Tackling your skin concerns may feel like a constant necessity, but believe it or not, there are some seasons that are better suited than others to address those concerns and apply certain treatments. If you want a chemical peel to slough off dead skin and treat dark spots, fall or early winter is the best time. But if you want to see the extra benefits of Vitamin C, it’s best to use it during the summer. That’s why Kopari Beauty’s latest release is a perfect fit for your summer skincare routine.
Earlier last month, the coconut-based beauty brand launched three new Vitamin C-focused products: Star Bright Vitamin C Moisturizer, Decolorization Serum, and Bright As Day Sheer Mineral Sunscreen. The latest offerings are inspired by the tropical goodness of starfruit and its rich source of Vitamin C. But what makes these new products special and timely is that they’re made with all skin tones and types in mind, so that everyone can reap their great benefits during this time of year.

This is my favorite product from the new Vitamin C line. As you can see, the correcting serum is half done.

“Dark skin pigmentation is usually caused by inflammation and is associated with high amounts and concentrations of vitamin C. [also] It causes inflammation,” said Krupa Koestlein, a cosmetic chemist at Koppali. She knows. “Using highly concentrated serums can be counterproductive for those with sensitive or darker skin types.” So to make the formula more suitable, Kopalli developed a “proprietary blend of super antioxidants, including niacinamide, tranexamic acid, and Kakadu plum, to enhance the efficacy of vitamin C.”
As someone with melanin-pigmented skin who experiences post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, I knew these new products would be perfect for me, so I’ve been testing them out over the past few weeks and would like to share my honest thoughts on these new skincare products for the summer.

Summer new product launch
Star Bright Vitamin C Discoloration Correcting Serum
To get the most out of Vitamin C, it’s best to use it in your morning routine. The active ingredient acts as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties, providing natural protection against free radicals and preventing damage like dark spots. After cleansing your face, immediately apply a suitable serum. If you look closely, you’ll see that serums are made of tiny yellow beads that encapsulate Vitamin C to ensure its stability. Formulated with Niacinamide, Tranexamic Acid, and Kakadu Plum, this formula is gentle yet effective at calming inflammation, targeting dark spots, and improving skin tone.
The Vitamin C comes in beads, which need to be pressed into the skin and absorbed rather than rubbed into the skin. This allows you to apply the serum purposefully and target specific areas. The formula is gentle and not highly concentrated, making it safe for daily use. I have very noticeable acne scars and post-inflammatory dark spots, but with continued use I have noticed that the areas around them are less prone to irritation. With this serum, it’s all about long-term results. It took about 3 weeks for me to see a change in my skin, which I don’t think is too bad. As with most skincare products, it’s all about long-term results. With continued use, you will eventually see long-term results.

Star Bright Vitamin C Moisturizer
I was a little apprehensive about using two types of Vitamin C in one routine, but given how gentle the Discoloration Correcting Serum is on the skin, I didn’t expect the Star Bright Moisturizer to be harsh or have any side effects. Frankly, this has become one of my favorite moisturizers for the summer. It has an incredibly lightweight formula and contains Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Star Fruit, and Panthenol. It leaves skin feeling hydrated without feeling sticky, making it the perfect place to apply SPF. Vitamin C protects the skin from environmental stressors, but using sunscreen works even better.

Bright as Day Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
Speaking of sunscreen, the latest addition to Kopari’s SPF range is the perfect finishing touch to your morning skincare routine. Like the previous two products, this new mineral sunscreen is also infused with Vitamin C. It also contains Niacinamide to protect the skin’s barrier function, Astaxanthin to hydrate and protect against damage in dry areas, and ethically sourced Mica to give you a radiant glow. And unlike most mineral sunscreens, this one doesn’t leave a white cast. It blends really well with all skin tones. However, I’m not a huge fan of mineral sunscreens, so I don’t use this one much unless I know I’ll be in the sun all day or going to the beach.
