The event is being held in partnership with the Consulate General of India Vancouver, Summerland Hindu Temple, Kelowna Hindu Temple, West Cabs, Scout Security, Yin Yoga and Okanagan Ayurveda.
The celebration, which will take place on June 22 at Trinity Church in Kelowna (1905 Springfield Road), aims to promote holistic wellness and build interfaith community, unity and peace through the mindful practices of yoga and meditation.
International Yoga Day is observed around the world to highlight the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga and meditation, and to encourage people from all walks of life to experience the transformative power of yoga.
In Kelowna, Member of Parliament Tracy Gray, Mayor Tom Diaz, City Councillor Mohini Singh and Heartfulness volunteers will be joining the yogis at the event.
The program, which runs from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include:
● Chair Yoga: Gentle, accessible yoga exercises suitable for all ages and abilities. Relaxation techniques: A guided relaxation session to induce calm and mental clarity.
● meditation: A heartfulness meditation session to cultivate inner peace and spiritual well-being.
● Special AddressAddresses from Councillor Tracy Gray and Mayor Tom Diaz highlighted the importance of the interfaith community and its overall wellbeing.
