Kathleen E. Parnell passed away peacefully in Milford on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. She was born November 11, 1941 in Showell, Maryland, the beloved daughter of the late Moses and Margie (Mumford) Parnell.
Katherine worked diligently in the Environmental Services department at Beebe Hospital where she dedicated over 26 years. Her dedication and hard work was evident to all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the Dagsboro Church of God where she found comfort and strength in spirituality. She was faithful and dedicated to her calling as an intercessory prayer warrior.
In her free time, Katherine enjoyed sewing and found great joy in listening to spiritual music and the preaching of God’s Word. She cherished every moment spent with her family and had a special love for her granddogs who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Katherine’s love for her family was immeasurable and far reaching. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion and kindness.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Moses and Margie Parnell, daughter, Dorothy Harper, son, Paris Johnson III, and ten brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her devoted children, Letitia Parnell Wright (Daniel), Aretha Ellis (Edward), Dennis Todd (James), Sabrina Valentin, Raelene Johnson, Bernard Flamer (Gloria) and Michael Flamer (Patricia), brother Robert Parnell, sister-in-law Naomi Parnell Westcott and aunt Elizabeth Mumford. She will be dearly missed by her beloved granddogs Apollo, Solomon and Sami, and the many nieces, nephews and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.
A funeral service to remember and celebrate Katherine’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, with family and friends allowed to visit from 9-11 a.m., followed immediately by burial in Henlopen Memorial Park.
Kathleen E. Parnell will be remembered for her unwavering faith, loving spirit and the warmth she brought to those around her. She will be forever in our hearts.
