PHILADELPHIA (May 10, 2024) — Kara Stromberg, MS, RD, LDN, CDCES, director of clinical nutrition and nutritional research at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital Jeans Campus, recently presented the Pennsylvania Society of Nutrition and Dietetics Awarded by. As a Keystone Award Winner.
“It was an honor just to be nominated for such a big award, but winning it was very special to me,” Stromberg said.
The Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has approximately 4,000 members across the state. Its mission is to serve the public by promoting nutrition, health, and well-being.
The Keystone Award is one of the Academy’s highest honors. Recognize up to two Academy members who have demonstrated excellent professional standards that help advance the organization’s mission. This includes participating in an academy with a focus on advancing the profession, providing leadership in an extraordinary way, leading initiatives that improve patient lives, and publishing or producing original work. , and being recognized by peers and other organizations.
“Elevating the role of dietitians is my passion, and I have spent over 10 years highlighting our efforts in clinical and community settings, as well as representing dietitians on state and federal initiatives.” This award recognizes that accomplishment, and I am extremely humbled and grateful for that,” Stromberg said.
Stromberg is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator. He earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from the University of Delaware, and she earned a master’s degree in clinical nutrition and dietetics internship from New York University.
Stromberg leads the team of registered dietitians at the Fox Chase and Jeans campuses. She oversees all inpatient and outpatient nutrition areas on campus, as well as nutrition-related research activities and quality improvement programs. Fox Chase dietitians provide patients with individualized counseling, nutritional support, medical nutrition therapy, education, and meal planning tips.
In addition to accepting the award, Stromberg and colleagues Jaylin Kellogg, MD, RD, LDN, CNSC, and Dylan Shelley, MD, presented a session titled “When Should You Stop Feeding?” “The Role of the Dietitian at the End of Life” was presented at this year’s Academy Conference, held April 14-16 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
