Fairfax County, Virginia (DC News Now) — Sixth grader Anisha Marapu has started a foundation to help children and teens deal with mental health issues.
through her Bhavna Foundationshe has connected with over 1 million people and speaks to young children and teens in person and online.
“It’s important to start a nonprofit organization and speak internationally to educate people about this issue of children being too scared to speak up about their feelings,” she said. “It’s important to get them to open up and express how they are.”
Marapu has hosted more than 100 workshops and traveled across the country and around the world to spread the message about the importance of children’s mental health.
“I’ve talked about this from kindergarteners to college students,” she said. “I’ve been talking to pre-teens and teens because they have a high suicide rate. My foundation also focuses on suicide prevention, and I want to direct resources to It offers.”
Marap plans to study biology after high school, but for now she is focused on connecting with more young people and finding ways to help them with their mental health issues. .
