The John Lennon Estate has partnered with the Lumenate app for a series of meditation mixes developed from John Lennon’s 1973 song “Mind Games.”
The project, announced today (May 1), was developed to help people reach a relaxed meditative state and “help guide the mind to deeper states of consciousness.”
The newly converted mixes apply a variety of sound design techniques and processes to the original 1973 recording by the late Beatle’s John Lennon, and in some cases incorporate producer Sean Ono Lennon’s original 1973 recording. It is enhanced by additional instrumentation by his son (also his son). Ono Lennon and Yoko.
The song was written by Lennon after reading a 1972 book. Mind Games: A Guide to the Inner UniverseThis book by Robert Masters and Jean Huston provided brain training exercises to help people have a more positive outlook. The song appeared as the title track on the album of the same name and became a cult classic.
“John was trying to get the message across that we all play mind games. But if you can play mind games, why not use it to create a positive future and play positive mind games? “Mind Games” is an incredibly powerful song,” Yoko Ono said of the song. “People didn’t fully understand the message because it was too early in those days. Now, people will understand it. At the time anyway, people didn’t realize they were playing mind games. I don’t think it was.”
The app works by using a flashlight on the back of the user’s smartphone, carefully shining it into the user’s closed eyes to bring the user into a state of consciousness somewhere between deep meditation and psychedelic.
It includes nine mixes of Lennon’s tracks, each paired with a “unique and deeply immersive light sequence,” allowing users to “see, hear, and feel music like never before.” I can.
We also strive to maintain the solid, authentic feel of the original recordings, but slow down the tracks and extend them by up to 10 minutes for a meditative experience.
Four of the nine mixes are available as binaural versions, each focusing on a different type of brainwave: beta, delta, gamma, and theta.
“These tracks, named ‘Mind,’ ‘Space,’ ‘Spirit,’ and ‘Love,’ feature binaural beats. Binaural beats are an auditory illusion that occurs in the brain when the left and right ears hear two slightly different frequencies and that difference is perceived as sound. “A new frequency that can activate different brain patterns for scientifically proven therapeutic benefits,” the description reads. “Beta waves occur when you’re thinking, delta waves occur when you’re fully relaxed in deep sleep, gamma waves are associated with higher order thinking and concentration, and theta waves occur during sleep or daydreaming. Masu.”
The ‘Mind Games’ meditation mix was launched today as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. It is available for free through the Lumenate app.

Sean Ono Lennon said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Lumenate on this release to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Month.” “I think our mind games project is fun, meaningful, and potentially expands your thinking. I have been using the Lumenate app for personal meditation since it was released, and have used it a lot. My father was famously obsessed with meditation, and I remember trying out a “flicker machine” that he had in his bedroom. That first introduced me to the idea of stroboscopic EEG guidance. I thought it made sense to combine the music from Mind Games with the science from Lumenate. I really hope people enjoy the results as much as I do. ”
Tom Galea, co-founder of Lumenate, added: The journey it takes you on is deeply relaxing and emotional, providing a unique and powerful canvas to explore your soul. I can’t wait for the world to experience it, it’s already had a very meaningful impact on me personally. ”
