Jacqueline Fernandez shows off her toned arms as she does a reformer pilates workout

Jacqueline Fernandez has joined the Pilates team with fitness instructor Yasmin Karachiwala. In a new video, the actress can be seen working out her swaths during a reformer Pilates session. With the support of a reformer box, the ‘Race 2’ star completed a full-body, low-impact workout on the machine. Here’s a breakdown of her routine:

As a warm-up, Jacqueline Fernandez started by bending over the reformer, locking her knees to the bar, and pushing against a box. She then did a few push-ups, targeting her chest, triceps, and shoulders. She then stood on one foot over the reformer and pushed against the box while keeping the other foot on the floor. In the same position, she extended one arm for an extra stretch.

Next, Jacqueline stood next to the reformer and stretched the cable with her toes. Then she got on all fours and bent over the reformer box, pushing with one foot onto the cable, stretching it from the floor into the air. In a similar position, she balanced her right knee and elbow on the box and used a band to stretch her right leg. She positioned herself on the box and focused on arm exercises. Finally, she sat on the reformer box to engage her core and complete her comprehensive training routine.

Pilates is widely known for building a strong core. Exercises are performed on a box-shaped machine called a Reformer, in which you can sit, stand or recline; however, some exercises can also be performed on a Pilates mat. Exercises on a Reformer machine help with strength training, but using a Reformer box takes these sequences to the next level. Here are 3 reasons why you should try Reformer box exercises in your next Pilates class.

Helps strengthen the abdominal area

Pilates is a full-body workout that especially targets your core muscles, and reformer exercises, performed with boxes and cables, put extra pressure on your abdominal muscles, giving them a maximum workout.

Strengthen your upper body training

A reformer box allows you to improve the precision of your arm movements. You lie on the box and use the cables to perform a series of arm exercises that target your back, shoulders and triceps.

Upgrade your mat workout

Pilates moves can also be performed on a mat, allowing you to get a functional workout at home or on the go. A reformer box can also be used on a mat to support your body as you perform stretches and core sequences.
