In a significant development aimed at advancing the field of Indian medicine and homeopathy, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Central Council for Ayurvedic Scientific Research – Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurvedic Research Institute (CSMCARI), Chennai under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, and the Council of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy (CIM&H), Arumbakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The ceremony was held recently at Kalaignar Centenary Multi-Speciality Hospital, Guindy in the presence of Tamil Nadu Minister of Health and Family Welfare, M.A. Subramanian, and Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Gagan Deep Singh (IAS).
The MoU outlines a cooperative framework for the provision of testing services, training, and execution of a joint project on “research studies for standardization and evaluation of toxicity testing for selected higher-order drug preparations.”
The main objectives of this Memorandum are to:
- Conducting testing of selected APIs and finished products with the aim of standardizing pharmaceutical products.
- Provide NABL Accredited Training Guidance to CIM&H laboratories.
- As per the approved proposal and as an integral part of this MoU, a collaborative research project entitled “Research Study for Standardization and Evaluation of Toxicity Testing for Manufacturing of Selected Higher Level Pharmaceutical Products” will be carried out in accordance with the terms, conditions and guidelines of the CCRAS Research Policy.
Rigorous testing and standardization protocols improve the quality and safety of Ayurvedic and homeopathic medicines, benefiting both practitioners and patients. NABL certified training guidance will enhance the functionality of CIM&H laboratories and ensure adherence to the highest standards.
The collaborative research project will focus on evaluating the toxicity of selected higher-level medicines and providing valuable data to the scientific community to ensure the safety and efficacy of these treatments. The partnership will facilitate continuous knowledge exchange and capacity building, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence in Indian medicine and homeopathy.
