Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health BK Singh and Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Thailand, signed the MoU in the presence of several dignitaries.
The initiative has been undertaken to promote, encourage and develop academic cooperation in the fields of Ayurveda and Thai traditional medicine, based on equality and mutual benefit for participants, the Ministry of Ayurveda said in a statement.
The MoU will facilitate exchanges of experts for research and training programs, academic and technical activities, traditional medicine research, and the exchange of information, technology and best practices.
Participants will support each other in mutual cooperation and joint activities based on equality and mutual benefit through the facilitation of training courses in Thailand and India.
The two institutions will also conduct joint research studies on diseases of common interest and facilitate visits and exchanges between policy makers, academicians, experts, researchers, practitioners and students, the statement said. The National Institute of Ayurveda and the Faculty of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine will share information on regulatory mechanisms, best practices, practice guidelines, learning and training courses, and hold conferences and meetings alternately in India and Thailand.
