Ina Garten says: goThat’s why this Independence Day, we’re leaving out some classic backyard dishes: The Barefoot Contessa shared her “special” menu for the holiday on Instagram today, but two barbecue staples were noticeably missing from the list.
“I usually grill hot dogs and burgers for the Fourth of July, but this year I’m going to make it a little special,” she wrote, sharing the recipe she made. teeth her plans for a patriotic celebration;
“First, I’m going to make warm lobster rolls because they’re so delicious and really easy to put together. I serve them with traditional coleslaw and potato salad, but my version is the best thing you’ve ever had: fresh veggie coleslaw and Julia Child’s favorite potato salad,” she continued.
“What about dessert? S’mores made with homemade toasted coconut marshmallows. So yummy!! And because we always need something tasty to drink, we’ll have some fresh lemonade! (You can also add vodka!)”
Garten also lists the page or cookbook where each recipe can be found. For example, her homemade marshmallows are: Family style, She pulls out a lobster roll. But hot dogs and burgers weren’t the only thing missing from Garten’s menu: There was another classic dish the cookbook author left out of her list this year: It looks like Ina is leaving out Taylor Swift’s beloved flag cake, which she recreates almost every year for her Fourth of July celebration.
But that doesn’t mean you (and Tay) can’t create patriotic pastries this year too — in fact, Garten shared an easy cake-decorating tutorial for Memorial Day in case you need a refresher.
“Memorial Day isn’t just a day off work – it’s a day to remember all those who have given their lives for our country. What better way to honor them than with a flag cake,” she wrote on Instagram. “It’s big, it’s dramatic and everyone can take a slice home with them!”
