Whether caused by genetics or lack of sleep, dark circles under the eyes are a common skin care concern.
A medical expert has revealed four free hacks you can use to lighten your dark circles.
Dr. Michael Aziz spoke exclusively to The US Sun about his skin care tips for reducing dark circles under the eyes.
Anti-aging experts break down the four most effective techniques for brightening your under-eye area.
“Dark circles can be caused by aging, genetics, and fatigue,” he explained.
To combat this, Dr. Aziz recommended applying cold compresses under the eyes on a regular basis.
A cornea care expert revealed how this trick works to brighten the area.
“Cold compresses reduce blood flow to the skin around the eyes and reduce discoloration of dark circles under the eyes,” the researchers explained.
Dr. Aziz also suggested elevating your head while sleeping and making sure you get enough sleep to reduce dark circles.
Elevating your head “prevents fluid from collecting under your eyes at night,” according to the Cleveland Clinic.

As for the next tip, skin care experts advised those who suffer from bags under the eyes to use a different type of bag to combat it.
“Cold tea bags are also beneficial due to their antioxidants and caffeine,” he said.
Caffeine has a vasoconstrictor effect, which tightens blood vessels.
Finally, Dr. Aziz recommended incorporating facial massage and skin peels into your skin care routine.
He also warned against the overuse of fillers in anti-aging efforts.
“Many women choose fillers or expensive laser treatments, which in some cases can lead to poor results or accelerate aging,” the expert explained.
“Fillers should be used sparingly; overuse can significantly change the appearance of your face.”

He also suggested red light therapy as an alternative for people who dislike cold therapy.
