Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Health department officials, in a joint operation with MIDC-Walj police, on Friday busted two illegal ‘naturopathy’ clinics in Ranjangaon-Shenpunj area, where unauthorized persons posed as doctors. Two impostors who were treating patients were arrested. The accused have been identified as Shailandhu Das and Sanjay Mandal from West Bengal. They ran Shrikrishna Naturopathy Clinic and Parvati Naturopathy Clinic respectively. They have been charged with cheating under various sections of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act, 2006, and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complaint was filed by Dr Rangnath Kale, the taluka’s health officer, who had received several complaints from local residents about the suspicious activities of the two fake animals. Dr. Kale said the quacks are taking advantage of people’s gullibility and claiming that they can treat various illnesses through “naturopathy,” an alternative medical system that uses natural remedies and lifestyle changes. Ta. Inspector Avinash Agabu of MIDC Walj police station said that during the raid, authorities seized several fake certificates, prescriptions, medicines and equipment from the clinic. He said a preliminary investigation revealed that the impostors had no legally valid medical degrees or certificates and were practicing medicine without authorization or supervision. He said the imposters were also involved in supplying fake medicines and adulterated medicines suspected to be sourced from other districts. and states. They were making huge profits from their illegal business. Agab said police were investigating the imposter’s source and network and searching for accomplices. Health department officials and police urged the public to remain vigilant and not to fall prey to such fraud. They also asked people to report any such incidents to authorities.
