U of I offers two programs.
- Mat teacher training focused on mat-based exercises.
- Comprehensive teacher training incorporating all Pilates resistance-based equipment.
Through Wednesday, May 15th, U of I students can take advantage of reduced admission rates. These programs are designed to give you an in-depth understanding of Pilates theory, exercises, and methodologies suitable for both equipment and mat-based sessions. Although the curriculum aims to prepare graduates for a career in the Pilates industry, we welcome participants from all backgrounds.

Graduates of these programs pursue careers in fitness centers and physical therapy clinics, establish private Pilates studios, and benefit greatly from BASI’s extensive instructor and studio network.
BASI Pilates faculty member and U of I alumnus Lauren Hovik will lead the training module. Hovik began her Pilates journey in college as an exercise science and dance student, after which she trained under notable instructors including BASI founder Rael Isakowitz. Now she is spreading her expertise all over the world.
For the 2024-25 academic year, both comprehensive and mat programs will be offered in BASI’s innovative hybrid flex format. This approach combines online lectures with face-to-face modules that focus on practical movement analysis and exercises.
This comprehensive training will include eight in-person modules scheduled from August 31st to September 31st at the new Integrated Pilates Movement Lab on the Moscow campus. 1st, October 12th-13th, January 18th-19th, April 5th-6th. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a comprehensive Pilates teacher certification from her BASI Pilates. The student early registration price for this course is $3,800 until May 15th, but will increase to $4,500. Non-students can also take advantage of early registration for $4,200, which increases to $5,000 after the May 15 deadline.
The MAT program will be delivered through online lectures and four face-to-face modules from August 31st to September. Early bird rates on October 1st and October 12-13 are $1,100, increasing to $1,350 for both students and non-students after the May 15th deadline.
U of I students also have practicum/internship credit options, extensive networking opportunities, and job placement assistance.
