Lisa Ludovici typed her resignation letter in three minutes.
At the time, Mr. Ludovici was an advertising sales executive with 17 years of experience at a national media company. However, as the years passed, her work environment became toxic, and the joy she once found in her high-pressure job was no longer there. A tense internal conference call with her colleagues was the last straw for her.
“I realized that the industry was changing, and I changed myself,” said Ludovic, 51. “Everything around me seemed to be falling apart and my frustration was growing. Even though I was doing pretty well, I didn’t feel like I was doing well. Abundance without fulfillment It’s basically a failure.”
Ludovic, who lived in New York City, didn’t know where to go after quitting her job in 2009. But she found her new calling through an unexpected source. It was a local TV show in Manhattan. After quitting her job, she canceled her cable TV and she ended up only watching this particular channel because “it was the only one that didn’t show static,” she joked. .
Ludovici was fascinated by a hypnotherapist from the International Coaching Federation who spoke on a panel on the show. She tracked down and contacted her speaker, and by the end of the three-hour conversation, Ms. Ludovici had decided to attend hypnotherapy school.
She had previously known about the subconscious mind and how it affects human functioning, so she immediately became interested in the subject. Of particular importance was the fact that this speaker, like Ludosibi, had a career in corporate America before transitioning into hypnotherapy.
“It’s a cliché to say, but I was more scared of staying the same than I was of what was going to happen to me, so I took the plunge,” Ludovici said. “When I jumped, a net appeared in the middle.”
It’s starting to heal
In February 2010, two weeks into New Mexico Hypnotherapy Academy of America, Ludovici developed a migraine. She was diagnosed with chronic migraine when she was 3 years old, and she had been experiencing frequent migraines ever since.
Ludovic spent the morning break in class holding his finger over his right eye, something he had previously found comfort in. The program director noticed this and took Ludovici into his office for a guided hypnotherapy session, where Ludovici “used metaphors to help my body function the way it was created and designed.” “We induced it…because when our bodies are functioning optimally, we’re not sick.” We are not sick and we do not feel pain. ”
Feeling a little better after that one short session, Ludovici sought additional hypnotherapy sessions to target her migraines while learning how to use hypnotherapy to help others. “The day I went into the director’s office and did that session was the last day I had a migraine. And that was 11 years ago in February of this year,” Ludovici said. Told.
start again
After 10 weeks of full-time accelerated study, Ludovici completed a hypnotherapy program. She had all the skills needed to help people, but she had no clients. What she actually had was personal experience in using hypnotherapy to heal the body…and surprisingly, it was very helpful in getting her new business off the ground. It was 17 years of corporate sales training that turned out to be true.
Ludovici started his work in a very grassroots way. First, she emailed her friends and family and told them the story about her migraines and training. She offered free hypnotherapy sessions to anyone who was “called to heal a part of their life.” In August 2010, when her client list was becoming “a friend of a friend of a friend,” Ludovici decided she was ready to open her own business, but she said she received “a lot of cold calls.” she said.
Although Ludovici enjoyed working with clients individually, she felt the need to share hypnosis with doctors as an “adjunct” to patient treatment. To network with her physicians, Ms. Ludovici attended the Mount Her Sinai Physicians Lecture Series held at his 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. Ludovici was so impressed by one particular speaker, Dr. Homan Darnesh, that she waited until the crowded room was empty, she said. And there’s probably something else that can be added to that, and that’s hypnotherapy. My name is Lisa Ludovich. I am a medical assistance hypnotist. ” Dr. Denesh held her hand and said, “I need you.”
“Since that moment, he has been the most important person in my work and remains so,” Ludovici said.
After that meeting, Dr. Darnesh began referring clients to Ludovici, as did his colleagues. She helped them with everything from overcoming fear of needles to managing post-surgery pain. Her introduction led to lectures and grand rounds at Mount Sinai. One of the researchers who attended one of Ludovici’s lectures eventually became medical director of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital in Manhattan. He asked her to visit her hospital to continue much of the same work she was doing at Mount Sinai.
being your own cheerleader
Success did not come easy for Ludovici. When she said she was going to hypnotherapy school, everyone from her orthodontist to her apartment manager wondered. To counter these negative messages, she said: She said: “I had a lot of conversations with myself to keep moving forward. [I told myself], “Just take a step and just keep going.” And it was like really rooting for myself and believing in myself. ”
While many senior executives considering a career change worry about “wasting” the years they have invested, Ludovici believes that corporate experience is essential to success in a completely different industry. I noticed that. She stated that she “used the skills she acquired during her 17 years in corporate America: selling, building relationships, establishing networks, and solving people’s problems to build her hypnotherapy practice.” I did. I was doing the same thing in a different way. ”
Ludovici said it’s never too late to change your life. dream. Dream big. Let’s take the first step. It’s okay if you don’t know what will happen in the end. It doesn’t really end until our time on Earth ends. Until then, have an experience that will set your soul on fire. ”
