Season 2 Episode 3 Real Housewives of DubaiCaroline Stanbury sought advice from experts who have treated many remarkable people, including Princess Diana.
That’s right. Caroline sought treatment from therapist Marisa Peer. In the June 18 episode, she explained, “I’m not a big fan of traditional therapy, but I ended up interviewing Marisa for my podcast, and she’s the number one hypnotherapist in the UK. She was Princess Diana’s therapist, so if it was right for her, it must be right for me.”
Caroline wanted to start therapy because she wanted to change her habit of treating everyone, including her husband, Sergio Carraro, like a mother. “Sergio is still very clingy,” she says. “I’m trying to cut the umbilical cord.”

Marisa began by asking Caroline what she wanted to get out of the session. She replied that she wanted to be a little more empathetic to Sergio’s needs. “I make everything my own,” Caroline said, noting that her long years at boarding school had made her prone to doing everything for everyone, almost like a “control freak.”
“It’s all conditioning,” Marisa explained. “When you can’t control it, you have to think it’s out of control. But in your case, maybe you can tone down that need for control a little bit.”
Caroline then closed her eyes and entered a hypnotic state, recalling her childhood. In her mind, she replayed a conversation she had with her mother when she was 8 or 9 years old. At the time, she had begged her mother not to send her back to school, but her mother told her that she had to go back to school.
What’s happening in this scene is do not have Going is completely ignored because she needs to go have “You have to go,” Marisa said. “When you were little, your needs always came last, your mother’s needs always took precedence over yours, and now you and Sergio have a mother-son relationship. Is that right?”
After agreeing that this is true, Caroline is asked to explain the “price” she pays for micromanaging Sergio. Her answer? “He’s not independent.”
“Men need praise from their partners,” the therapist explained. “If he has to come to you and ask questions, you’re being a mom again. I want you to understand the damage that will do over time when he comes to you and asks questions and becomes dependent on you. With that understanding, say, ‘I’ve decided not to micromanage Sergio, and I like that.'”
Finally, Marisa snapped her fingers and Caroline woke up. Her homework was to get Sergio’s needs done, not micromanage everything, and share the daily schedule.
