ST. George — The Hike Your Feeling Tour will feature the healing power of nature and giving back through service during May Mental Health Month.

Author Sidney Williams told St. George News that he is partnering with Autocamp and Field Station to introduce the innovative event series. Williams is a wellness advocate, wilderness guide, and creator of Hiking My Feelings. Her company creates mental health programs through outdoor experiences to improve community health by allowing people to experience the healing power of nature.

“There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, right? So we try to create an environment where people can find solace in nature and give something back to the land. For it to be intentional and meaningful, it needs to be interrelated,” Williams said.

This year, Williams toured seven national parks and monuments and published a new book, “Hiking Your Feelings: Blazing a Trail to Self-Love.” This book provides a framework for self-reflection that helped her recover from career burnout, reverse diabetes, and improve her mental health.

In celebration of the launch of her new book, the autocamp and field station offers guests a chance to step away from distractions and explore themselves and themselves, reflecting a shared dedication to finding inspiration and solace in the great outdoors. Host events that encourage you to reconnect.

Williams hosts a variety of events, including fireside book discussions, group hikes with local nonprofits, and environmental stewardship projects.

She also offers Wilderness Wellness Workshops in one-day and multi-day formats. Williams shares how taking a day (or four) to slow down, disconnect from distractions, reconnect with yourself, and spend time outside can bring your best self to life, love, and work. He said the aim is to provide an opportunity to explore how it can be useful.

On May 10, Williams will lead a fireside group discussion at the Moab field station. She will work with participants on a service project with the Canyonlands field office.

Then, on May 17th, she arrives in Washington County. Williams partnered with the nonprofit Zion National Park Forever Project and Utah Virgin AutoCamp. There will be a book discussion by the fireplace to support the Zion Forever Project. Participants will support the nonprofit project’s activities on land near the borders of Zion National Park that has been transferred to the Zion Forever Project. They are asking for help finding out what natural resources they have.

During a walking workshop with Mr. Williams, participants will help survey the land and see if there are any cultural artifacts.

“For example, what can we learn from how long petrified wood has been around and how much less of a problem it poses for us?” Williams said. “We also connect the dots between inside and outside the wilderness, supporting the Zion Forever Project with critical volunteer time.”

In September 2017, Williams was diagnosed with diabetes. In the summer of 2018, she began hiking around Catalina Island near her home in San Diego, California. She wrote her first book about her own experiences.

Williams’ latest book is similar to his first book, “Hike My Feelings: Stepping into Nature’s Healing Powers,” which was published in 2019. This work is based on his two hikes across Catalina Island that helped Sydney Williams heal his mind and body.

Her second book, Hiking the Emotions: Paving the Path to Self-Love, adds to the lessons, resources, and content she currently teaches in her online and in-person programs. This book includes journal entries and discussion prompts that you can use to develop your relationship with yourself. This book gives you a toolkit to unpack your “trauma pack” and make it the best version it can be.

“Hiking healed my mind and body and helped me reverse type 2 diabetes. It’s my biggest teacher,” Williams said. “This is the place where I feel most at home with my body and myself. And once I saw it, I couldn’t see it again. ‘Hiking My Feelings’ is the place I feel most at home with my body and myself. It is also the name of the nonprofit organization that created the project. ”
