NORTH ENGLISH — The North English Biweekly Women’s Club met on May 4th at the home of Carolyn Ellwood.
Amy Andreasen presented the program “Creating Contentment: The Path to Wellness.” Andreasen described the impact of COVID-19 on her life when she returned to her school, and she explained that she realized that things would not go back to normal.
As Andreasen was thinking about goals that might improve her life, she was drawn to a week-long course called Holistic Healing for Educators at Prairie Woods Franciscan Spiritual Retreat. We met.
Andreassen has become one of Iowa’s nine Global Wellness Ambassadors through the Scanlan Mental Health Center. In these sessions, she learned to practice her gratitude daily because her emotions are contagious.
Mr. Andreassen also conducted a year-long class for staff called “Creating Satisfaction.” She cut her wardrobe in half by practicing minimalism, which she learned from her consultant Marie Kondo, by wearing the same clothes for 100 days in a row.
Helen Butcher read two poems for meditation: “It’s Spring, It’s Spring” and “Spring.”
The club’s balance was $1,126.64, and two $50 checks were still outstanding to the English Valleys Drama Department and Chains Interrupted, bringing the balance to $1,026.64.
The treasurer sends Dave Jackson $150 for the history center rental.
The Weekly will donate $150 to English Valleys FFA and $200 to Fun Days Fireworks.
Bonnie is to meet with Vicki Oswald at Miller Park to decide on the best spot to set up a small library stand. Another small library stand will be located just north of the Veterans Memorial.
Kim shared information about detecting and remediating radon in the home. Her husband Jeff and her son Reed are licensed in this field and will share their contact information with members via email.
Co-hostesses were Sue Banning, Bonnie Romine and Sarah Ernst. 15 members participated.
