Helping Hand opened to the public on May 9, 2021 in the ancient Croatian city of Pula. Its mission is as simple as it is powerful. It’s about reaching out to everyone in our community who needs support with their health, emotions, relationships, and spirituality, all for free.
“COVID-19 was the trigger because we realized that everything was changing. People were feeling very lonely and even angry…” said Lidija, a former social worker and instructor at the Helping Hand Center. Dr. Godina explained. “We were really concerned about it and decided to put our concerns into action by helping people with their hardships. [physical] Health, mental health and spirituality. Thanks to the generous and cooperative support of the Trans-European Department (TED), the Adriatic Union Conference, the Croatian Conference and the Church of Pula, a dedicated team of experts is now in the heart of this his 3,000-year-old city. standing. Ready to make real change.
According to Reverend Micho Havran, director of the Ministry of Health of the Croatian Congress and founder of Helping Hand, the essence of the center lies in the unique fusion of health and spirituality. “I think we also offer great health messages, spiritual messages and prayers. We combined those and opened this center,” he said. Although Helping Hand openly embraces a Christian identity, it is important to note that prayer and spiritual workshops are optional and available only to those who seek them.
Those who turn to Helping Hands face a myriad of challenges, including addiction, broken relationships, and depression. However, the feedback reflects a common theme. That means the center is making a tangible difference in their lives. “People say this is exactly what they needed. Some people call us angels, but we’re not angels. But we go out of our way to support them. I am doing my best and especially thank God for the opportunity,” Godina said.

In a world often consumed by loneliness and despair, Helping Hand stands as a beacon of hope, offering not just support but a community where individuals can find support and the courage to rebuild their lives.
