Gujarat adds around 150 Ayurvedic manufacturing units in last three years as Indian Ayurvedic products market crosses 1.55L CR mark

Gujarat Ayurveda Aushad Manufacturers Association (GAAMA), the apex of the Gujarat Ayurveda industry, said growth is projected at a robust CAGR of 16 per cent from 2024 to 2030.
On the sidelines of GAAMA UDAAN 2024 held in the city, GAAMA Chairman Hardik Ukani said, “There are around 8,000 Ayurvedic manufacturing facilities in India, of which 850 are in Gujarat alone, accounting for around 15 per cent. It is the fourth-largest state in the country, accounting for more than half of the total. market share. “
Ukani, who is also MD of Vasu Healthcare Pvt Ltd, said, “In the last three years, around 150 Ayurvedic manufacturing units have been added in Gujarat. Gujarat may be fourth in terms of manufacturing but in terms of exports. It’s in the top three.”
Uttar Pradesh (UP) is the leading state in terms of the number of Ayurvedic manufacturing bases, followed by Kerala and Maharashtra. With India’s Ayurveda sector growing at a consistent rate of 17% annually, Gujarat has emerged as a region making significant contributions to both exports and domestic sales within the industry, the association said. Ukani said, “With the support of the Ministry of Ayush, Memoranda of Understanding on the use of Ayurvedic medicine in India have been signed with over 46 countries including European, Middle Eastern and Asian countries.” Therefore, events like GAAMA UDAAN 2024 are being organized with the aim of promoting the globalization of Ayurvedic medicine. ”
The event, which was attended by respected Ayurvedic businessmen, policy makers and civil society representatives, served as a lively platform to discuss the challenges, opportunities and future scope of the Ayurvedic industry.
Mr. Rajesh Koteka, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, VA was the chief guest and Dr. Gnanvatsar Swami of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha was also present at the event.
At this event, collaboration with key stakeholders, including government agencies and industry associations such as AYUSHEXIL, remains crucial in identifying and developing new export markets for Ayurvedic medicines.
