We love BrewDog’s rebellious attitude – so much of what they’ve done over the years has been so subversive and brilliant that we just can’t help but get on board.
For example, when a Scottish-based, now global craft brewery opened up all of its latest brewing recipes to the global homebrewing community.
DIY dog It started in 2016 when BrewDog announced that it would be making its back catalogue of 215 beers available to homebrewing fans as a downloadable book.
This created a buzz in the industry and was a huge “win” for the homebrewing community around the world.
It took 10 years to create DIY dog It was born out of the brewery’s admirable vision to share what they’ve learned from years of adventurous brewing with their fans and peers.
In 2018 BrewDog added 89 new recipes to their epic brewbook, bringing the total to 415 beer recipes – it’s truly a massive resource.

The acknowledgment comes as a thank you to the UK homebrewing community which has supported James Watt and Martin Dickie since they started brewing in Martin’s mother’s garage in 2005. DIY dog It was bold in scope and scale…

DIY dog It was a talking point in the industry at the time and accurately reflected BrewDog’s rebellious philosophy… they believed that any company that hung on to secrecy was wrong.
Described by co-founder James Watt, who recently stepped down as CEO, as “the key to their brewing kingdom,” the DIY Dog represented a more innocent time for the company and the craft beer industry as a whole.
It was truly a “great moment in brewing” and one that we will likely see more of in the future.
