Gloucester hypnotherapist helps man with hay fever symptoms

People look forward to spring life with new hopes and new beginnings. Some of you may be looking to shake off the winter blues and stop engaging in unhealthy behaviors.

A hypnotherapist from Gloucester has helped many people kick bad habits in recent years. He also claimed to have helped his fellow students overcome hay fever symptoms while training in his own field.

Hypnotist Paul Goddard, 42, from St Bridge, Gloucester, said: ‘Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that improves concentration and is usually induced by guided relaxation techniques. In this state, the brain wave cycles slow down and I usually repeat this.” pace and lead.

“The hypnotherapist will observe the client as the relaxation techniques begin to take effect and will add suggestions for relaxation as the client goes deeper into the state known as hypnosis. In some cases, shock induction can be helpful. Although sometimes this technique is mainly used in stage hypnosis.

“When a shock is delivered, consciousness is temporarily suspended, giving the hypnotist a window to implant suggestions into the subconscious mind. During a hypnotic state, access to the subconscious mind is gained and the mind is refreshed. You will be open to useful ideas.”

In the past, people have relied on hypnosis to break bad habits. It is said to work by addressing problems through both the conscious and subconscious mind.

Paul said, “The conscious mind is the gatekeeper to the subconscious mind. However, once the subconscious mind acquires certain thoughts and habits, it is very difficult to break them. It is what you are born with.” The subconscious mind has been affected for many years because the conscious mind has not been as careful as it should be.

“Changing these thoughts and habits with the conscious mind alone can be difficult and time-consuming. However, if you can approach the problem through both the conscious mind and the subconscious mind at the same time, you can achieve the desired result. You’re more likely to get “produced.” ”

Paul has helped many people over the years. He especially remembers a woman who asked for help to stop swearing, and a woman whose life was upended by hay fever.

He said: “If I had to pick the most compelling case of all of us so far, it would be during my NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) training, we were asked to work with each other.” “The guy I was working with was suffering from severe hay fever.”At the time, his allergies were having a particularly difficult time.

“Within 30 minutes of me putting him through Ericksonian hypnosis, he was able to stop his hay fever response and was still hay fever free when I last spoke to him in 2019.

“This is a great example of how the mind works and how it can reach its full potential.”

Paul provided therapy to his current friend John Travers. John was really suffering from hay fever symptoms.

John said: “Paul and I trained together in the Master Practitioner of NLP under the excellent trainer Kim Phillips. For both of us, it was part of the training process in various therapeutic interventions. I know that.

“It was a late spring/early summer training weekend and I was suffering from hay fever. I called my wife, went to the pharmacy and mixed up whatever I could find to take to Isborne. I got it. Cheltenham center.

“We took a break and Kim suggested that Paul work with me in a quiet room using hypnosis. Paul did this and we had a session that lasted about 40 minutes. At the end of the session I walked out of the room and I was ‘dry’.

“There was nothing wrong with my eyes, ears, or throat that had been making me sad all morning. I remember telling Kim, “It’s gone now,” and “That’s what I thought.” An hour later my wife showed up with all the symptoms. I couldn’t believe it as she was buzzing on the phone.

“Since then, I have received training in several areas as part of my ‘toolkit’ for assisting clients. Some of these frameworks include NLP and hypnotherapy, which I generally reject. However, some have suggested that my episode was a stroke of luck or coincidence.

“I have told this story many times at psychotherapy conferences, and there have been polarizing reactions. All of that is understandable, but this was ’cause and effect.’ In my case, the client always has a role to play, so the results are not 100%.

“Some smug people asked or suggested that I definitely had a hay fever flare-up. I do occasionally sneeze, but nothing happened that day that would prevent me from participating in training. There was nothing.”
