Glenn Close is showing off her goofy side after breaking her nose just before her 77th birthday.Number birthday.
The legendary actress posted three close-up photos of her face on Instagram as she revealed she was on the road to recovery. “Today is shaping up to be an especially good day,” she captioned a series of fun selfies she posted the day before her 77th birthday. “Don’t mind the bruises. Small fracture in my nose healed. Feeling as beautiful as ever,” she added.
In the makeup-free photo, Glenn can be seen posing for the camera with messy hair and a cardigan.
Tons of celebrity friends supported her: “You’re a treasure,” Rumer Willis wrote. “Wow I love you,” Lily Collins said. Even Instagram mogul Adam Mosseri chimed in, saying, “Ma’am you’re so good at Instagram 💪🏼💪🏼.”
Glenn didn’t give details about what happened to his nose or when it happened, but he has been busy posting nature photos and videos on Instagram recently.
Three weeks ago, she shared a video of herself acting out an extreme emotional reaction, writing in the caption, “Thinking…” She then responded to a commenter, “I’ve been thinking about how everything that’s going on in the world affects us. We are constantly exposed to images of the horror of war, displacement, hunger, cold, painful loss, brutality, sudden violence, grief, pain… and we risk becoming numb and emotionless.”
But she’s also had plenty of fun. In early February, Glenn shared a photo of herself after getting a haircut, writing in the caption, “Where did my hair go!!!”
There are a variety of treatments for a broken nose, according to the Cleveland Clinic. If the fracture doesn’t cause your nose to become crooked or misshapen, you can simply take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen and apply an ice pack to reduce pain and swelling.
If the fracture has caused the nose to become misaligned, a doctor may need to manually reposition it (while the nose is numb) or corrective surgery may be necessary.
Get well soon, Glenn!
